The European tech-conference circuit
Different conferences attract different audiences: Web Summit (Lisbon, scale), Slush (Helsinki, founder-focused), Money 20/20 (Amsterdam, fintech), Mobile World Congress (Barcelona, mobile/telco). Below: choose by your sector.
Lisbon — Web Summit
Lisbon Web Summit (early November) — 70,000+ attendees, largest European tech conference. Tickets €1,000–4,500 (Open €99 for evening events only). Booking: 8+ months ahead for accommodations. The "Davos of tech" reputation.
Helsinki — Slush
Helsinki Slush (late November-early December) — 12,000+ attendees, founder + investor focus. Tickets €700–2,200. Smaller and more genuinely networking-driven than Web Summit. Cold setting helps focus indoors.
Amsterdam — Money 20/20 Europe
Amsterdam Money 20/20 Europe (early June) — fintech-specific. €2,500–4,500. Strong banking, payments, crypto attendance. RAI venue.
Barcelona — Mobile World Congress + 4YFN
Barcelona Mobile World Congress (late February-early March) — telco/mobile-industry, 100,000+ attendees. Plus 4YFN startup track. Hotels 3–5x normal rates during conference week.
London — multiple
London hosts year-round — TNW Conference, London Tech Week (June), Connect (sales/marketing). High base rates; networking beyond conferences strong.
Berlin — multiple
Berlin NOAH Berlin, Tech Open Air (TOA), bits&pretzels (Munich). German startup scene mature post-2015. €500–2,000 typical.
Paris — Vivatech
Paris Vivatech (June) — French tech ecosystem celebration. €700–1,500.
Strategy
Conference passes pay back if you have specific networking targets; otherwise free side events sometimes more valuable. Book accommodations 6+ months ahead Web Summit/MWC. Consider Airbnb Plus over hotels (often better availability).
